Here’s the best video to watch first. Jack Reda runs a how-to-play game for beginners in Tabletop Simulator.

Here’s the official Gale Force 9 tutorial. A couple of minor clarifications: 1) You do not have to trigger a card when you play it. You may trigger it freely as part of the Activation used to play it. But you can simply use that Activation to play it. When you draw your new hand at the end of your turn, you draw one fewer card for each triggered card in your Tableau. 2) You can only spend 'Verse as Influence if the card you are trying to gain has your faction's symbol in its top left corner. 3) You can still be targeted by attacks if you lose a card from your Command Area. Only the loss of an Asset makes you immune from further attacks. Enjoy!
